Our Approach
From Knowledge to Application
Development matters when people can apply what they learn. My work connects purposeful practice, reflection and clear next steps to the demands of everyday work.
The Project BALDR Ethos
Project BALDR is an Army development proposal jointly developed by MJ Brightey and Nick Curtis. Its central idea is to bridge knowledge and practical application by integrating human development into existing training routines.
I carry that ethos into Valhalla Bear through leadership, teamwork, adaptability, character and human performance. Mind, body and spirit provide a useful framework: mental skills, physical capacity, and the purpose and values that guide behaviour.
Practical Application
Understand: establish the requirement, context and barriers with the people involved.
Practise: use purposeful tasks and realistic scenarios to develop communication, decision-making, leadership and followership.
Reflect: examine what happened, why it happened and what should change.
Apply: agree responsibilities and actions that fit existing routines.
Review: assess progress against agreed measures and adapt the programme.
Evidence & Accountability
My experience includes Army training, instructor development, programme design and internal consultancy. Project BALDR provides a development framework; each client programme is scoped and evaluated against its own requirements.
